Today the kids were going to learn more about chalk board animation. The goal for today was to create an animation on the chalkboard and then transform it into a digital version.
The setup:
The classroom was set up with a camera and a chalkboard to capture and draw animations. Students had to draw the same theme and images from the flip-book they created during the previous class on to the chalkboard.
Next, it was time for them to make a PHENAKISTOSCOPE.
Next up, The Thaumatrope
It was amazing to watch kids learn these classic techniques of animation that were so popular in the 19th century.
As the class progressed, students continued to complete their chalkboard animation.
