Day 3 started with a discussion on the “Father of Animation – Winsor Mccay”and the first animation movie ever created ” The Enchanted Drawing “. The children completed their storyboard and its designing by day 2 and proceeded in making their own animation story by shooting frames with the instructor. Day 4 and Day 5 are going to be more interesting when kids are going to make a group film after finishing their individual films.
Day 1 of animation started with watching some animation movies made using food materials such as bread , bread crumps, grains and sphagettis etc. The movies were shown to the kids to give them an idea of how they can create an animation movie using food materials and how they can create doodles with foodie things.
Then kids were given blank sheet of papers to execute the ideas for the movie. They started creating a story board , drawing backgrounds and characters for their films and then they were introduced to the food materials they can use to create the background and their characters for the films.
Children then decided what food materials they are going to use and started there work on the colorful chart papers. Kids are going to continue their work of designing their frames with food materials on Day 2 and Day 3.
Today, we worked on finishing our animations and adding some final touches. The kids colored their characters and backgrounds and made an end page. The class ended by watching an animation clip named Come Take a Ride in my Airship by Max Fleischer. We also watched Disney’s Carnival Kid which is the first film in which Mickey Mouse talked.
Today, we continued our work with Knock-Knock animations. In yesterday’s class the kids had already marked the sound breakdown of their voice on their respective exposure sheets. They used this exposure sheet to figure out the characters mouth shape according to phonetics given in the sound breakdown. They then took some time to come up with a design for their characters and a background. They drew the background on animation paper and then made a title page. Today, the kids continued the work from yesterday and referred to the exposure sheets to design frames for their joke and drew various mouth shapes and movements to match up to the breakdown of sound recordings.
